vouchers. Guests can pick
up a voucher for laundry,
wash and dry, at a local
Laundromat, a $4 value.
Over 3000 vouchers have
been given out. This program
has been a true loaves
and fishes story. |

April Showers is made possible by the efforts of volunteers who provide supervision, food, supplies, and clothing.
The Boys and Girls Club and City of San Leandro also provide support.
Program costs continue to challenge the program. We spend about $15 for each guest each time we open the Boys and Girls Club. This cost is a combination of food, lunches, new clothing, laundry vouchers and other supplies. The cost is covered by donations of supplies such as soup or lunches from our volunteers or supporting Churches.
There is always a need for supplies, primarily new socks and underwear for both men and women. Guests also need razors, toothbrushes, aerosol deodorant, toothpaste and trial sizes (from hotels) of shampoo, soaps, and lotion.

Almost 3 years ago, the idea
was brought to the IHN
Steering Committee and
immediately put into action.
The committee voted to
spend nearly all of its very
limited funds to get it started.
As the word spread, the
community responded,
sustaining this program
that is so deeply
appreciated
by the guests.

Donated supplies may be delivered to: All Saints Episcopal Church, Bethel Presbyterian Church, Church of the Assumption, First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, San Leandro Community Church, St. Felicitas Catholic Church, St. Leanders Catholic Church, or St. Peters Lutheran Church.

In addition to supplies, donations of money to support the laundry voucher program and purchase necessary items are vitally important. One hundred percent of all funds received are used for the homeless. There is no overhead. Donations are tax deductible. Make checks payable to:
